WritersWeekly.com has received a complaint about:
Cynthia Bingaman / Clear Copy Solutions / clearcopysolutions.com
WritersWeekly.com is a publication that publishes information for
and about freelance writers. The publication is the
largest-circulation freelance writing ezine in the world.
As part of that information, WritersWeekly.com publishes a Warnings
section on its website and in its newsletter. This warning section
contains reports about publications that are unprofessional in
dealing with writers, haven't paid writers money that is owed to
them, who have not abided by their contracts, or who have unfair
contract terms. These reports are used by WritersWeekly.com's
subscribers
to decide which publications they should and should not work with.
Your firm has been submitted to us for inclusion in the
WritersWeekly.com Whispers and Warnings section.
Step one of our investigation of this report is to gather all
relevant correspondence between your publication and the person
submitting the complaint so that we can piece together that person's
side of the story. Step one of our investigation has been completed.

The second step in our investigation is to send this communication
to your firm to get its side of the story. If you have evidence
disputing these allegations, or would like to make your own
statement about these allegations for publication in our report, please
email angela@writersweekly.com within two business days.
***All correspondence for our investigations must be in writing and

If you do owe this person money, we strongly suggest you read
this article before responding:

Our report on your firm is scheduled for inclusion in our
publication next Wednesday, though it may appear in our Whispers and
Warnings forum before that time.
If there is no response to these allegations, WritersWeekly.com will
still publish this complaint, but our readers will not be able to
read your side of the story.

Subject: Whispers & Warnings Complaint of No Payment
Date: Mon, 14 Sep 2009 14:04:05 -0700 (PDT)
From: [RA]
Hi Angela,
I'm having a problem with receiving payment for a hired assignment.
On August 25th, I accepted an assignment from Cynthia Bingaman of Clear
Copy Solutions (www.clearcopysolutions.com), for a set of 20 home
improvement tips (based upon keywords supplied), for $100. Two
weeks prior, I had completed an assignment for her for a set of 10 home
improvement tips, for $50, which she did promptly pay me for via PayPal.
I submitted the $100 assignment for its due date, September 1st. On
September 3rd, I emailed Cynthia, thanking her for the previous pay, and
double checking as to receiving this new assignment, and when to expect
its payment. No response. I emailed again September 10th - still no
response.
In between these two assignments, Cynthia and I had had a separate
correspondence regarding our little ones going to school. I thought that
perhaps her lack of response could have been due to something concerning
her family....but thought it odd that she did not even respond with a
message along the lines of "sorry, been busy, yes payment will be...."
On a whim, I decided to see if she was on any social network sites -
hoping that if she was, it may indicate a posting about emergency (not
wishing anything bad, but at least a direction as to why the sudden
quiet), maybe no activity at all...
On September 13th, I found her Twitter page, which shows her being
active as recent as September 11th, with updated posts that coincide
with my emails - hence, if she's online to update Twitter, presumably
she is also checking email. Her posts concern seeking work, and I wonder
if she will do the same with others - I came about doing the initial
assignment by responding to a Craigslist ad looking for an SEO writer -
Cynthia replied that she was overloaded with work and needed to
sub-contract - so this begs the question - is she soliciting more work
that she can then sub-contract out to others, and never have to pay for?
And why then pay me for the first assignment, and not this second one?
Later that day, I emailed one last time, indicating my disappointment
that while I was happy everything was ok, it was not right that she be
active online, and yet ignoring my emails and receiving $100 payment. I
indicated that if I did not hear from her by 5pm the next day (which
would be today), I would seek formal complaint. Well, here we are, past
5pm, and still no response from her.......
I am going to follow this email with six separate messages - the five
forwards of my communication regarding this issue, and one containing
Cynthia's Twitter posts that reflect she has been online during my
ignored correspondences. I apologize for hitting you with all of those
messages, but figure it will help you to have copies of everything I
have sent, along with the proof that Cynthia has at the very least been
doing something online during this time period.
Thank you for everything. I hope that you have better success reaching
her, and seeing to it that I am paid for my work.
Sincerely,
[RA]

Angela,
My husband faxed Cynthia Bingaman (at the fax number listed on her
website: www.clearcopysolutions.com). He brought home the
confirmation sheet of the fax going through.
No response from Cynthia. |
