Re: Rose Desrochers / Shawn Desrochers / Todays-Women.net / Invision-Graphics.com

Hi all,

Since we have recently realized the damage that has been done by Rose Desrochers, her husband and their websites, we have made the decision to remove all posts by these two individuals made against companies where they did not have a business-to-business relationship with each firm. While most of these posts represented their opinions, these "opinions" were obviously meant only to upset others and draw them into heated arguments. These "opinions" were also clearly displayed as a way to harm reputations.

In case you're new to this forum or haven't been on the other writing forums, Rose Desrochers haunts the writing sites and forums and posts inflammatory and misleading comments about companies she's never done business with, but that have disagreed with her in correspondence on these forums. She appears to also go out looking for companies to damage simply by replying to individuals' inquiries about companies. She then finds something...anything to nit-pick about the company (which she's never done business with) and enflames the issue into a full-scale war. She then posts inflammatory remarks about these companies... simply because she wants to.

She embarks on these witch-hunts meant only to harm reputations and feels she is above the law in this area.

She has also threatened to reveal personal information about one individual online (which is against the law in Canada, where she resides).

After I refused to remove posts about the todays-women.net contract (which wasn't fair to writers), Rose Desrochers threatened to sue us and also vowed to harm our reputation. Only 72 hours after she complimented us on one forum, and after we banned her from this forum, she started posting numerous attacks against us...on that same forum and others.

For all of these reasons, and in order to bring this forum back to the friendly and helpful place it once was, we are removing posts by Rose Desrochers and Shawn Desrochers. It will take a few days to do this, so please be patient.

I'd also like to apologize to the people who were lured into her heated attacks and the stress they endured while corresponding with her here. You can read how we're now screening all new forum members to stop this type of behavior in the future here:
http://forums.writersweekly.com/viewtopic.php?t=4019

You can read about Rose and her husband and the havoc they've wreaked online at these links:

There are more, but these will give you the general idea.

Hugs to all,
Angela

Somewhere among the legion of posts this individual has inspired, I noticed a comment about how there was a book in all this. I tend to agree. What stumps me right now is what the approach should be. Mystery? Slapstick? Fiction? Thriller?

I suppose it could be presented as being actual occurrences. The only problem is, how many people would believe it? If I hadn't read all this garbage the last couple of months, I know I wouldn't.

I must confess, i believe it was I that mentioned that book. Upon further reflection, I shan't write it. Reason: no one would believe it.

I've worked in the teleconferencing industry for fifteen years now. The first company I worked with had all the makings of a great mini-series or possibly a night time soap. We had infidelity, alcohol and drug abuse, finances going up and down like yoyo's, lawsuits among the family members that owned the company, etc.

But alas and alack, I will probably never write that treatment, simply because everyone would think I was retreading old Dynasty scripts.

That might work.

Today, it seems to me that the concept of a psychodrama with comedic overtones fits the subject matter and main character...

Thanks, Angela, for doing this. Rose had me mixed-up with another "stormy" who evidently posts on another forum. My inbox was being filled with derogatory emails from her and her husband. I finally had to block her address.

I am so glad that it isn't "just me".

I had the misfortune of joining one of her sites and at first she seemed very friendly, and we even exchanged quite a few personal emails.

Then I received an email she had sent out to the entire network. And later that day she sent out another, apologizing for using the term "Hump Day" which apparently someone misunderstood. I personally thought it was funny...no big deal...and sent her an email telling her that...and the next thing I know....

It was like Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. She absolutely flipped out on me. I honestly don't know what it was that set her off....the next thing I knew she was bashing me in the forums, telling everyone that I couldn't write, called me a "b*tch" numerous times....it was actually very WEIRD!! Then she cancelled my membership and blocked me.

I was left holding my hands in the air...wondering...what the heck????

So imagine my RELIEF when I notice this forum message.

Thank you! All this time, I was thinking it really was me...or something I said or did.

I know I shouldn't really be too bothered by it, but if you go to the homepage of TW, you will see several forums (in the little scroll bar at the left side of the site) dedicated to my website and to Writer's Weekly and Booklocker. They are both entitled "Truth and facts about..."

I think it is a bunch of bunk that we can't rebuttal there. At the very least, Angela let me respond to Rose's posts about my site. Further, I know that Rose has a tendency to take things out of context and to manipulate the truth.

I have mixed emotions about this whole thing. I'm not sure what is more exasperating:

1) That she spends so much time slamming other people and their websites.
2) That she can't spell worth a damn.
3) That her grammar is atrocious.
4) That her website homepage is filled with spelling and grammar mistakes.
5) That only 'members' can view the dirt on her site.
6) That any member who disagrees with her is summarily banned from her site.
7) That she has so many members (debatable point, I know).
8) That so many people believe posting on her site is a good thing.
9) That there are so many naive people on the Internet.

For me, it's #'s 2 and 3. To present herself as an advocate for poets/writers/women, yet be so completely incompetent...that Offends me as few things do. :-/
