You most definitely are Ele; you're my brainstorming-raindancer.

Funny thing that... I did see the posts about bookplates ;-)

Give Elle one drink and she turns into a brat! I meant everyone ELSE - did THEY see your posts about bookplates.

Gimme another gin & tonic with elderflower liqueur. Mmmm.

:-P

I don't think many people were interested, though. I'm starting to get a complex.

Really? I figured you'd be flooded with offers, so I kept quiet. If there's still room to join, let me know and I'll send you an email.

Thanks Karen, I'd love to have your input. :-)

On a different note, someone calling herself a "writer" with a writing business producing content for sale has scraped two of my articles and published them on her blog. Grrr. And her reponse to my Cease&Desist: "Oh I wasn't trying to take the credit - it's got your name at the top." So not the point.

What kind of writer can't even write their own content and has to resort to stealing some?

Is she selling the content? Then that's stealing.
So many people seem ignorant of the rules for copyright.
Perhaps they think it doesn't apply to the internet.

How ignorant.
How dishonest.

Go get her, mate.

She's removed them now.

No she wasn't selling it (that I'm aware of). But she was using my, and other writers', articles as content on a new blog, and she certainly didn't have my permission. One of my articles was scraped from BellaOnline so she credited the new Fiction Writing Editor with authorship of my article. This particular piece I hadn't yet had time to publish on my own website so I would have lost out on Google had I not discovered this, as Google would have considered mine to be the plagiarised version.

It's a minor thing, but it's the principle of it.

Well that is crappy. I say send her a bill. Then name and shame. Sick to death of this myself.

I really need to put a notice on the Blood-Red Pencil - we have scrapers over there, too. They give credit, but dammit, do your own writing! I'm thinking something like:

Blog posts scrapers will be billed $150 per article lifted from the Blood-Red Pencil.

What do you think?

Sounds reasonable.

I've just heard that my sister has breast cancer.
Would you believe, in the same side as where I got it?
I'm so sorry for her and kinda weirded out, too. D**n cancer.

Just got a paid 'mentoring' job. Woohoo.
AND
The magazine that I've been writing reviews for (5 years) has asked me to do an author interview and write an article about it. FINALLY. Fingers crossed I do a good job.

Wendy I'm so sorry about your sister. I think there is plenty about cancer that we just don't know.

Congrats on your paid mentouring gig- what an honour! And good luck with the magazine article- I'm sure you'll do fantastic.

Yeah, the swings and roundabouts of life.
Thanks for your kind thoughts everyone.

Boy, things have been really quiet in W/W lately.
Is everyone spending too much time on Facebook?

We have a lot of members, but only a few contribute - what gives?

I'm going to start a new thread and see if I get any bites.
