Is it also called a Comment in the Insert section of other Word versions? It's no wonder we're all Bloody Mary confused around here. |
Perhaps I misspoke. When I get back to my "office" on Monday, I will verify what my version of Word supports.

Hi Ele,
I'm back in the office and have verified that my version of Word (2002) supports user-insertion of commentary in arbitrary places in a file (which my version calls "Comments" even though your version calls them "Notes") but does not support commentary specific to changes (which in your version is apparently considered "Comments"). I hesitated to answer immediately because I'm certain I've worked on at least one file that had change-specific comments entered, but I've decided that must have been on a machine other than my desktop.
For a software manufacturer to use a term differently depending on the version reflects a design sensibility that is foreign to me. I don't know how to say it more kindly.

Heya
Ele has stumped me with this question a few months ago - I've not come across it before and I've been totally unable to replicate it so I can't figure out how it is happening. Do you want to send me a sample doc to look at? _________________ Elle - HearWriteNow.com

Dave, you are hysterical and too kind. LOL.
Elle, my darling, I shall send you the ms. I've started editing - page 24 for the weirdness. Will email this second.
Thank you! _________________ Founding member of The Blood-Red Pencil

I have to tell you that Elle had the fix. (brag*brag) Simply reject the change. Snort! Even though I didn't actually make a change, I can reject it, and it goes away. Go figure. Who am I to argue with success? Goes to show you how a mindset about something can get in the way.
Does any of that make sense to a soul except me? And maybe Elle? _________________ Founding member of The Blood-Red Pencil

That's great, Ele.
To the tune of "The Impossible Dream":
To cope with that Microsoft Word
To change the indelible text
That seemed to appear out of nowhere
And makes me ineffably vexed

| There are only 4 of us signed up for the Christmas Card Exchange. You may do this voluntarily, or I will be forced to get the other 3 to help me PM everyone who has ever posted on this site and keep doing it until they cave and join us. :D |
