Thanks Dave, for the Bump.

I'm a freelance writer, psychotherapist and fiber artist. And I'm not schizophrenic, at least not today.

Currently, I write primarily for magazines, but have also been a regular contributor to a wellness blog in the last few years.

Goals for this year:
Make enough writing $ to seriously consider chucking the day job.
Find new, regular pubs. to work with
Start a humor blog, because at least I think I'm vastly entertaining.

Looking forward to meeting other like species,
Nancy

I'm delighted with this site. And glad to be a member.
I write sort of all over the board... kids books, radio, stage plays, movies, TV, magazine articles... and I love it.
I put in 14 hour days most of the time, without getting up or eating or... well... anything. My Darling Bride of 42 years understands that, when I'm writing, if the house is on fire, I don't want to hear about it unless the floor under my desk is smoking.
I began slaving on another project recently... to build a boat for us to retire on.
That's about it.
I'm sort of reclusive in real life, and I am not socially ept. My Bride endures me, but that's only because of her degree in animal husbandry. Having said that, I look forward to (slowly) getting to know some of the people here, and to learning from all of you...
Roy

Hi Roy! Welcome!!!

14 hours a day? Good gracious! I can't sit still for 14 minutes! Maybe I can learn some lessons from you on sticking with a writing project until it's DONE!

My my, it's been awhile since someone posted here... *blows dust off the thread*

I figure this is as good a place to post a little "Hello!" as any. I'm Robyn, and work full-time as a broadcast radio dj/administrative assistant/IT tech/Graphic Design Artist and Hater of Power Point (all right, that last part is just what I'm known for around the office...not actually part of my title).

My on-air name is Gadget Martelli (Italian for Hammer...eehee hee hee...so clever am I *rolls eyes at self*) and I love what I do, but it's not what I'd do if I could choose not to right away. That, of course, would be freelance writing :)

I'm 27 and just now getting used to the water again with writing and the writing industry - I've been out of touch for a few years while getting my degree (philosophy, pre-law and political science emphases) and wound up with a severe touch of writer's block after a divorce (isn't it weird how we process things?). Prior to all of that, I got started in high school with an opinion column, then worked for a couple of local newspapers (my resume is a little bit ridiculous to look at overall >.< ). Nowadays, I've written a few things but haven't sold anything yet (also haven't felt comfortable enough to try just yet).

As to the "what" I write part - I'm not very picky. Ideally, I'm writing about something semi-political and am able to write with an agenda. But barring those, I'll write on anything I can get information about! I prefer to write non-fiction, and angles I haven't seen elsewhere. I aim to entertain while being informative :)

So hey y'all! Good to be here and to meet you all :)

Hi everyone,
In case anyone might be interested to hear, I've completed a couple writing-related projects recently.

One is an e-book version of my book Position and Pawn Tension in Chess, which I had self-published as a paperback in 1993.

The other is a recording of my song Collapse Like a House of Cards, which is being digitally distributed (i.e., in mp3 or other audio format) by CD Baby.

Dave

To follow up on my reply of August 2, 2013, my e-book Position and Pawn Tension in Chess was favorably reviewed in January at ChessCafe dot com. Here is the webpage address for the review.

Also in January, I released another music track: a four-part a cappella version of Jan & Dean's 1964 hit The Little Old Lady (from Pasadena). A sample can be heard at amazon, itunes, CD Baby (through which I distributed the audio), or several other places.

Dave
