Hi,

I was looking into places to write and I happened upon Suite 101. Does anyone have opinions on them? Are they a good place to write for or should I steer clear?

Thanks for the advice!

Ren

I used to write for them until they decided to stop paying their writers. That has to be 8 or 9 years ago. I made out better than a lot of writers because their head office is near where I live and they held a BBQ for their staff and writers, so free food and drink and lots of neat freebies, many of them I still have. Back then Suite 101 had all kinds of staff and investors. When they stopped paying writers they let all their staff go, except for one person. I think they're a click per view paying site now, and you need tons of clicks to make any money. I'd say you're about 10 years too late to be applying as a writer for Suite 101. Don't waste your time here.

Well, is there anywhere good to work as a writer online? It seems like all of the sites want to either pay you chump change, rev share, or not at all.

Ren, a few of us are doing fairly well on Squidoo or Hubpages. Maybe give that a shot while you're looking for other avenues?

Here's me if you want some examples:

A friend of mine is able to pay her car note with her Suite101 shares. I think you really need to know SEO and be able to pump out a good number of articles.

FYI: A blogging gig I have lead to a $1/word article for another website. There is hope. Keep your chin up and don't give up completely.

Instead of looking for opportunities where others pay you to write for them, why not make your own opportunities, write for yourself, and keep the money?

We're writers. That means we've already got lots of knowledge about various topics. That's just the way we are.

Plus we do a lot of research when we're in the process of writing for others. That means you've picked up even more knowledge and you've got notes about it everywhere.

So you've already done a lot of work. Just rewrite it and then set up a blog about that topic.

Monetize the blog with Adsense, affiliate links, etc. Tons of options are out there.

You've already done most of the work on many topics. Just take a few more steps and make money from this.

Plus once you've set it up, it will keep making money.
