Guidelines: http://www.blowsite.com/uploads/Guidelines.doc

GUIDELINES:

First; we are not publicly funded. Our sympathy is with our would-be contributors, but our loyalty is to our readership. Literary merit is no advantage here that does not entertain, start to finish.

Second; our format and criteria are not customary. Most issues will have but one short story, featured on the cover and occupying the majority of the column inches throughout. As well, there will be only 2-6 poems, 2-4 cartoons (as space permits). The short story must carry the issue from the first paragraph. The poems must be as accessible and entertaining (to the general public) as the prose. Cartoons must provide a pleasing break to the eye and provoke laughter and/or thought. Emphasis is on content, with artwork a close second. There are no subject matter guidelines*. At this time, we do not accept freelance reviews or columns.

Third; much of what we publish will have been solicited. Please bear that in mind. Pay for unsolicited submissions (upon acceptance) ranges from $25 to $250 with rare exceptions.

Length and content:
Short story: up to 7000 words, any style, any subject matter*.
Poetry: up to 500 words each (rare exceptions), any style, any subject matter*.
Cartoons: Any subject matter*, single panel, black/white & grayscale only, must be acceptable at 300dpi or lower and roughly 4”x 6”. Multi-panel strips occasionally needed.

All submissions must be in electronic form; disk, USB storage device, or email; PC compatible.

*Material containing excessively lewd references or images; political, religious, racial, and sexist content will be subject to the highest standards. No prudes here, but it’s easier to entertain without offending. That said, we are committed to printing anything we think the overwhelming majority of our readers would enjoy.

How to submit:
o Query Kate Gould, Editor (prior to each submission) to see what B L O W currently needs.
o Wait for a response.
o Submit as instructed.
o Unsolicited submissions arriving absent editorial request will be deleted unread. wwbl2006
