WritersWeekly.com has received a complaint about:
ebookad.com / eBookAd.com Inc. / EBookAd / Dustin Revin
WritersWeekly.com is a publication that publishes information for and
about freelance writers. The publication is the largest-circulation
freelance writing ezine in the world.
As part of that information, WritersWeekly.com publishes a Warnings
section on its website and in its newsletter. This warning section
contains reports about publications that are unprofessional in dealing
with writers, have refused to pay writers money owed to them, who have
not abided by their contracts, or who have unfair contract terms.
These reports are used by WritersWeekly.com's subscribers
to decide which publications they should and should not work with.
Your firm has been submitted to us for inclusion in the
WritersWeekly.com Whispers and Warnings section.
Step one of our investigation of this report is to gather all relevant
correspondence between your publication and the person submitting the
complaint so that we can piece together that person's side of the story.
Step one of our investigation has been completed.
L.R. (name removed for publication but was provided
to ebookad) alleges you owe her $25. She adds that your stated
a check had been drafted last April, 2005, but that no payment was sent.
She also claims you have ignored her numerous email about
this situation. She has since removed her books from your site but
has not yet been paid the money owed.
See complete allegation under my signature.
She found additional complaints about your firm here:

-----------------
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
-----------------
The second step in our investigation is to send this communication to
your firm to get its side of the story. If you have evidence
disputing these allegations, or would like to make your own
statement about these allegations for publication in our report,
please email angela - at - writersweekly.com within two business days.
All correspondence for our investigations must be in writing and is
subject to publication.
Our report on your firm is scheduled for inclusion in our publication
next Wednesday.
If there is no response to these allegations, WritersWeekly.com will
still publish this complaint, but our readers will not be able to read
your side of the story.
We appreciate your prompt response in this matter.

Dear Angela,
I was wondering if you had heard any complaints about ebookad.com? I
sold quite a few non fiction e-books through them early last year and
have been waiting for a check from them, but so far have not received it.
The amount is $25.00 and they were supposed to have drafted the check last
April [2005]. It said on the 'My Account' page that the check had been drafted
to me in April 2005, but I never received it. Incidentally, that information
is no longer displayed on the page.
However, when I had not received it, I e-mailed the support e-mail address
several times but got no response, so I took my e-books off the site.
I thought I was the only person this had happened to until I recently came
across this URL - http://www.teleread.org/blog/?p=2954. I noticed that the
editor of Allure Books is owed in excess of $2000.
I'm concerned that this issue needs to be addressed to prevent others from
displaying their e-books on a site that promises 65% royalties but does
not deliver!
Thanks for all your help, Angela.

We sent this to ebookad last week, but they didn't respond to this complaint, either.
ALL AUTHORS AND PUBLISHERS SHOULD AVOID THIS FIRM!

I saw your warning about Ebookad and wanted to give you my story. I
believe they are about to go under.
I've been writing books for Renaissance Ebooks since 2003. The site is run
by Ebookad and royalties are paid through that company to Renebooks and
then to us. In the last year (2005), however, Ebookad has been paying
late, forcing delays in royalities to writers. Renebooks has been trying to
collect, but since January 2006, can't seem to get any response from
Ebookad. Now it appears Renebooks will be going their own way and cutting
their losses with their former host.
Between Oct. and Dec. 2005, Ebookad owes me $283. I have no idea what the
figures are for Jan-Mar 2006 and may never know, as Ebookad stopped
reporting them. Tell writers to avoid Ebookad at all costs! And wait for
the other shoe to drop when they announce some merger or some similar
desperation move.

Email rec'd from EbookAd victim:
Hi Angela,
I've just been informed by someone that eBookAd has gone! Check the site
out for yourself: http://www.ebookad.com/
And check out Tina Haverman's post for May 3rd:
http://www.teleread.org/blog/?p=2954
My only hope is that Revin does not rise from the ashes and set himself up
with another website to do the same thing in future!
Thanks for highlighting the 'ThiefBookAd' site and bringing it to the
attention of your readers.
Take Care,
L.R. |

EMAIL RECEIVED FROM WRITERSWEEKLY READER:
From: "Robert Ellis Smith"

Subject: Dustin Revin of eBookAd
Date sent: Sat, 13 May 2006 15:41:33 -0400
I called 905/737-9920 today and talked to someone who identified himself
as Dustin Revin [ebookad.com]. He said his company was insolvent. He has
no plan about compensating writers and publishers. He said he and his
partners lost money in the company. I said that he spent money that was
not his. He implied that the matter of debts would be settled in court and
implied that there would be a bankruptcy proceeding. I suggested strongly
that he notify all publishers and writers about the current circumstances
and he said that he might do that.
