I am accepting submissions for stories and photographs to be published in three Alberta Visitor Guides (publication date: May 2014).

Submission Guidelines are attached (SEE BELOW).

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Submission Guidelines for Visitor Guides
Our Publications:

• are published annually (in May) to promote the facilities and services of their respective regions
• distributed free at all major Visitor Information outlets in central Alberta, at campgrounds, at
local businesses and delivered to residences and cottages around Gull Lake and Pigeon Lake

Submission Tips
We’re looking for ARTICLES, STORIES AND HUMOUR that would interest summer visitors.
Topics could include: golfing, swimming, camping, boating, wildlife, camp cooking, travel,
antiquing, photography and fishing.

We also include good summer reading: mystery, romance and inspiration,
Between 300 and 1000 words are preferred.

We also accept PHOTOS of summer activities.

Examples: golfing, camping, camp cooking, fishing, boating, water sports, beaching, swimming,
eating ice cream, picnicking, horseback riding, biking, antiquing (shopping), strolling, etc.

Rights
Submitted items may appear (or may have appeared) in other publications. We encourage you to
publish your material as widely as possible as long as those publications do not overlap in
distribution with our magazine (central Alberta, Canada).

Payment
Payment is $0.04 per word. Photos are also welcome and paid $15 when published ($30 for
cover photo). If we publish your story or photo, we will send a complimentary copy of that issue
with your payment.

Method of Submission
Submission by email is preferred. You can paste into the mail message box or attach as a file.
We can open most word processing documents. You may also mail submissions. Please include a
self-addressed, stamped envelope for any items you wish returned.

Gull Lake Guide

We’re looking for people having fun, local events,
local scenery and wildlife for spring, summer and
fall seasons. See the map in the Gull Lake Visitor
Guide for specific locations around Gull Lake. They
include:

- RV Heaven, Parkland Beach, Gull Lake Golf
Course, Sunnyside, Poulson's Pasture, Birch Bay,
Sunset Campground, Bentley (e.g. some pics of people
shopping and using the services in Bentley),
Aspen Beach Provincial Park, Summer Village of
Gull Lake, Wilson's Beach, DeGraff's Resort, etc.

General activities - golfing, camping, camp cooking,
fishing, boating, water sports, beaching, swimming,
eating ice cream, picnicking, horseback riding, biking,
antiquing (shopping), strolling

Events - Bentley Rodeo, Bentley Farmer's Market,
etc.

Scenics & Wildlife - general shots of Gull Lake landscape
and wildlife

Pigeon Lake Visitor Guide

We’re looking for people having fun, local events,
local scenery and wildlife for spring, summer and
fall seasons. Locations include:

- Pigeon Lake Provincial Park, Zeiner Campground,
Twin Lake Park, Battle Lake Campground, Wizard
Lake Jubilee Park Campground, Mound Red Park,
Buck Lake Park, Hilah Ayers Wilderness Park,
Calhoun Bay PRA

- local greenhouses and u-picks

- local bed and breakfasts

- communities: Buck Lake, Falun, The Village at
Pigeon Lake, Mulhurst, Winfield. Breton, Thorsby
Golf Courses - Black Bull Golf Resort, Willow
Greens Golf Resort, Dorchester Golf Resort
(Whispering Spruce Campground - beside
Dorchester), Wicked Witch,

General activities - golfing, camping, camp cooking,
fishing, boating, water sports, beaching, swimming,
eating ice cream, picnicking, horseback riding, biking,
antiquing (shopping), strolling

Events - Events at The Village at Pigeon Lake,
rodeos in the area, etc.

Scenics & Wildlife - general shots of landscape and
wildlife at the following lakes: Pigeon Lake, Battle
Lake, Buck Lake, Twin Lakes, Wizard Lake
Town of Rimbey Guide

We’re looking for people working, people having
fun, local events and local scenery for all seasons of
the year.

Photos may include the following topics (more
topics are welcome!):

Summer - golfing, car racing, shopping, picnicking,
horseback riding, skateboarding, tennis, strolling, eating
ice cream, baseball

Winter - curling, hockey, ringette, skating, skiing,
snowmobiling,

General activities - events such as rodeo, church
supper, swimming pool, art club, senior's drop-in,
bowling, people doing their business (advertisers best
but not necessary), firemen and police doing their
thing, health workers at the hospital or at the Medical
Clinic, church activities, school activities, racquetball,
weight training

Events - Canada Day, Rimbey Show n' Shine, Ag
Fair, Horticulture Show, High School Graduation,
Halloween Haunted House, Remembrance Day, Carol
Fest, Fiddle Contest, Fish Derby, Farmer's Market,
Central Alberta Raceways, Community Centre event
Buildings - new structures, new developments (e.g.
residential), shots of some of the advertisers, airport,
Truck and other museums (especially if something
updated)

Scenics - Nesting Place campground, local golf
courses, busy shopping day downtown, long shot of
Rimbey from Hwy 53, scenics from the surrounding
area

If possible, a description of
who, what, when, where, why of the photo is desirable.
A story accompanying the photo is also welcome
(we pay additionally).

Photos should be a minimum of 200 dpi. Inside
photos are generally printed at no more than a 4”x4”
size. Cover photos are printed at 8”x10.5” size. Save
photos in JPEG, TIFF or EPS format.

Payment is $15 when published ($30 for
cover photo). If we publish your photo, we will send
a complimentary copy of that issue with your payment.
Submission by email is preferred.

You may also mail submissions. Please include
a self-addressed, stamped envelope for any items you
wish returned.
