I’ve been commissioned to write a book called, “How to Become a Fashion Designer,” that will publish this holiday season electronically then a hard copy will follow, that publication date is TBD.
I’m looking for experts in the following areas. Anyone who’s willing to be interviewed, just drop me a line!
How to set up a studio
How to find customers, including:
Individual clients such as wealthy women
Corporate clients, such as uniform companies
Major retail outlets
Also on major retailers: How can one find buyers WITHOUT having to buy any other book but this one (since we’re a book, we can’t send our readers to buy other books)
Regarding selling to retail outlets we need specific information such as:
Who to approach, including titles and divisions
How to approach them
What discounts she needs to offer, if any
How quickly she must supply the products (I know this will vary GREATLY, but if there’s an industry standard, we’d like to know what that is) How to hire people to make the clothes she designs and how to get the clothing manufactured.
Speaking of manufacturing, how would an American designer go about finding an overseas designer? Need all of the steps necessary to make that happen
How much to charge for the fashions she designs (our target readership is female)
How to buy the supplies she needs (material all that stuff) at wholesale prices
Someone expert in trade shows to tell us:
How do you find trade shows?
What are the best ones out there?
What is the process, from start to finish to apply to get accepted to be IN a trade show?
How do I either hold one or how can I get INTO one?
That ought to do it. Please be advised, when you contact me you must be specific as to exactly what areas you (or if you know someone) can comment. Generic e-mails that read, “I have someone who can talk about your needs,” will not do it so please bear this in mind when responding since my deadline is quickly approaching.
