I am sorry if I'm flooding this board with posts. Reading everyone's posts is sparking more questions I need to ask.
My mother is deaf. When I was about a year old, her dad died. Throughout my childhood she told me her dad would visit, tell her things. One memory that stands out is when she was washing dishes in the kitchen. She said she heard a man's voice. (She did not wear a hearing aide at the time.) She turned, and it was her dad.
My sisters and I always thought she was a bit nutty and of course never believed her. So I'm wondering if this was just some type of hallucination.

It isn't unusual for people with disabilities to still hear and see things in the spirit world that they can't see or hear in the physical world. That's because the spirit world consists of things that we can sense with our souls and does not necessarily require our eardrums or eyeballs to detect.

I saw a show recently about a woman who had a near death experience. She died, floated out of her body, watching the surgeons working on her, and only realized it was her body they were working on because of the ring she was wearing. She recognized the ring because she had touched it so many times in her life. You see, she was blind. When she was once again conscious, she was, of course, still blind, but could describe things she had never in her life seen with her own physical eyes. However, while having the near death experience, she was able to see.

This is probably similar to what your mother experienced. It probably also explains why people who do hear spirits, in the presense of others, are the only ones who can hear them...because they're hearing them on a deeper level than just with their eardrums.

Angela,
Thanks so much for responding. It makes sense now. But it was much easier to think Mum was crazy. <G>

I have moved the question and response about TV Mediums to its own topic.

It's here:

I have been visiting this site for about two months. Very helpful! But I have a couple of questions. Since my childhood I have have had dreams of people and situations sometimes can determine the outcome before they occur even when I am awake. I tried to reason things and say it was just a dream-or daydream, but too often they come true.
I have studied dream books and tried to pay attention to the symbols that appear in the dream, but nothing seems to make sense. I knew when my mothers husband lost a member of his family, dreamt about him and blood, his grandchild died. I saw my mothers fanfare funeral but she;s not passed away. I have seen myself as an elderly widow, begging to keep my life- while outliving not only my spouse but my children too. I knew my daughter wasn't going to be with much longer, like she was already missed, two weeks before she passed away of SIDS. How can someone know things but not enough to change it or fear it?

Kasual,

I wish I could help, but dreams - especially precognitive dreams - are outside my area of knowledge.

Hope someone else here can be of assistance, but if they can't, you might want to try this forum:

My opinion is that we're given enough information to prepare ourselves emotionally (if subconsciously) for a coming traumatic event...but there is nothing we can do to change these events, so we're not given enough information to change future events, because we're not supposed to. :(

I would say, _if_ there is nothing we can do to change it, myself. Because I have
had a precog warning, and made a change. Back when I was driving the craft circuit, I had a delivery to make. It required a drive of several hours and I was very tired. I lay down to rest, and was suddenly seeing an accident in my mind's eye - night, red ambulance lightflashing, paramedics walking away very downhearted looking. And the one they were walking away from was me.

Then it felt like things rewound, and I was seeing earlier events. I saw the road i'd be driving, a specific place, and time, and weather conditions. A truck raced up beside me
and suddenly turned, coming right at me, crashing!

I felt quite shaken by these visions. Still, I had to go - I'd made an appointment, and needed the sale income to pay living expenses. So I changed what variables I could.
First, I was extra cautious and kept myself alert - no cruising along absentmindedly.
Next, as i drew closer to the location I'd envisioned, I got out of the lane I'd been in,
and dropped into the slowest of the 4. It creeped me out as the weather changed
to spitting rain, just as I'd seen, at the time of day I'd seen. And suddenly, barreling
down the fast lane, was the truck I'd seen! I held my breath, slowed even further
*and it went on by me*! I had to get off at the next exit and sit and shake in a
parking lotfor a while. But I was OK! No accident happened, because I changed
things. So this is how I know that, sometimes, change is possible.

Regards, Murrday aka Peg

My deja vu/ precogs have never been so practical. I used to make a game out of guessing, say, after how many white cars in a row would pass before I saw a red truck, and I would be right. But I got kind of disgusted when I did that and didn't see the speeding ticket I got in the next mile.
