Hi,

Just wanted to know if there were any freelance travel writers over here and if so, I'm curious to know-

1) what got you started?
2) how you got started?

Would love to hear how you went about it and why....thanks :)

I've done a decent bit of travel writing and at first, I simply did it for the experience. If you get with the right company or magazine though, they end up taking extremely good care of you and you'll end up with 15-20 free mini-vacations per year. For example, I work for one website where I visit and rate amusement parks; I don't make a whole lot on each story but my kids have a blast and we get a good weekend and a few bucks out of a 2-3 page review. I've done the same thing for cruise lines, sporting events, concerts, MMA, and other semi-local stuff as well...you really can't beat it.
