HI EVERYBODY,

ANGELA HERE. Sorry to bust in at the top here.

I did receive your entries and I did send out confirmations to everyone. I have no idea what is going on with spam filters but I spent hours yesterday sending out confirmations, often 2 or 3 to the same person. Some were getting my emails but others apparently were not.

I did respond to every single email. :)

Hugs,
Angela

I don't know where else to post this. After entering the 24 Hour contest 3 times in the past, the last two times my story did not even get accepted.
The first time i accepted it. I was told the story arrived late even though I sent it in on time. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because it was pretty close to the time and I can see the email delay in getting to its destination.
This last time I sent it in FOUR HOURS EARLY!!!! I never got a confirmation and Angela won't even answer me.
I'm sure others have had this problem.
I find the contest Unfair. My email went out without a problem so the problem is on writer's weekly's end and for that I am penalized. Either my submission was overlooked in the spam they get and was deleted or their ISP filter or their host filter for their email did not let it in. Either way the hang up was on their end.
I am not allowed to submit my story with the time stamped on showing I submitted it. It is automatically assumed I am lying and manipulated the time on the email.
I am not a liar. I do not and did not manipulate the time.
I know I am not the only person this has happened to. If Writer's Weekly does not even want to accept some of the responsibility and look inot their end of it then people should at least be warned.
If you enter the contest and uphold your end of the contract and abide by the rules your submission may or may not be accepted. This way the entrant decides if they want to spend their money and hours on a crap shoot.
Like I said this is the second time this has happened. I won't be entering the contest anymore. This certainly puts a bad taste in my mouth for Writer's Weekly and Booklocker. I've been with them for years. It's only since I started to participate with them that I now feel differently about them.
I only wanted to warn people about the bias in the contest and to let others know that you are not the only ones this happened to. Someone had to say it.
I don't write messages like this but I am so disappointed. I would expect it to be run smoother than this.
I don't care about the contest. I care about the fairness and honesty of it. I did not pay a price and spend hours working on it to have it tossed and ignored. It was a waste of my time and money. I don't like to be taken advantege of or treated like a liar. I held up my end of the deal.

I was wondering about that, myself, JDP.

I was a first-time entrant in the summer contest. Like you, I sent my story in on time...not four hours early, but 30 minutes early, and I haven't received confirmation of its arrival, either.

Just to check that my email provider wasn't holding messages, I sent the story to myself at a different address, different email provider, at three minutes until the deadline. It got to my other email address on time!

I didn't know what to expect regarding confirmation, since they have several hundred stories to confirm, but your experience is very troubling. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt, but now I'm concerned.

Nancy

Angela here again.

I spent two hours forwarding all the confirmation emails today.

Hi Angela,

I did get a forwarded email from you this afternoon saying that my entry had been received.

Thanks!
Nancy

Thank you for clearing this up Angela.
Sometimes these things are out of our control and it gets frustrating when there is no recourse.
Thank you for responding.
I hope this helped others as well.

Perhaps I'm late in responding but I often enter the 24 hour contest and I've never expereinced a problem such as this.I always receive a confirmation of receipt. I am a bit crazy about deadlines so I usually submit hours in advance. It could be that if you wait until the last hour the submissions are too many for the ISP.
