Okay, I'll go next. I'm keeping this list to short-term goals (as in the next three weeks) because we tend to live in a state of perpetual crisis in this house.

Write column for MIke's Writing Newsletter (due 6/16, but I'd like to have it done earlier)
Fill out final semester evaluations and get them in the mail
Finish critiques for my writer's group
Read and critique materials for next residency workshop
Write essay for Bechtel competition
Update my Website
Submit short stories
Start on next chapter of my novel

That should be enough to keep me busy! :)

Goals update:
Write column for MIke's Writing Newsletter STARTED
Fill out final semester evaluations and get them in the mail DONE
Finish critiques for my writer's group DONE
Read and critique materials for next residency workshop STARTED

Next up:
1. Finish column for Mike's Writing Newsletter
2. Critique workshop materials for next residency
3. Write essay for Bechtel competition
4. Update Website and blog
5. Submit short stories
6. Submit article for e-book anthology
7. Submit article for Cross & Quill magazine
8. Start on next chapter of my novel

My, it does feel good to cross a few of these off the list!

I'm really glad we have this thread. I know that I read the idea over in Willow's bar...I just decided to take the plunge if for no other reason than to get myself motivated. I'm happy to see that it is working for a lot of ppl here.

New week, new post. This is only to keep ME from getting confused!

1) FIND DAY JOB - still working on it.
2) Finish Tarot and other article; post to constant-content.com - Haven't touched yet.
3) Find markets for my style of writing - Looked, one good possibility
4) Copy current work on book to computer and floppy - Brought to computer, not touched since.
5) Look for market for possible advice column - Hasn't crossed my mind

Not many goals but I've still got a lot on my plate.

Well, I didn't get anything done on THIS list but I DID: Hang catfishing jugs to dry; Dig out and level new spot for trash cans; tear apart old garage door (made quite well with good cedar); take dogs for walk.

It's why groups like Book in a Week work so well.... when you and a hundred other writers have to publicly set goals and report three times a week, and then your end results are posted for the world to see.... well, accountability is a motivator, isn't it?

Ok...this has been a poor week for me. I'm still unemployed, bills are beginning to back up and my medication has run out. I can't get more meds until I can go to the doctor...which means money. Let's see what I can accomplish tonight before I need a serious nagging....

New week, new post, same goals list...we're gonna try these again!

1) FIND DAY JOB - still working on it. Interview tomorrow; keep your fingers crossed

3) Find markets for my style of writing -Found a few; will look more tomorrow and send queries

I might give up on constant content and might not. I'm helping a guy with his ice cream truck route for a few days until something else pans out. Still cooking and cleaning and taking dogs out after long day and then, same as everyone else here, hits the writing.
Please, someone post their goals and let me know it IS possible to do the impossible....

My update:

1. Finish column for Mike's Writing Newsletter--Done
2. Critique workshop materials for next residency--IN PROCESS
3. Write essay for Bechtel competition
4. Update Website and blog--IN PROCESS
5. Submit short stories
6. Submit article for e-book anthology--MAY MISS DEADLINE; NOT SURE
7. Submit article for Cross & Quill magazine
8. Start on next chapter of my novel

I haven't done as much as I had hoped, but I actually feel proud of myself for what I did accomplish in the light of everything else happening around here. My MIL passed away last week, and we have been deep in the throes of planning a funeral. (It's this afternoon.) But I still managed to turn in my column on time.

Keeping up with the routine of writing helps me cope with the grief, I think. It gives me a little space to think about something else for a short while.

Jeanne, if you can write through that kind of pain, you're a real pro. Good job.

Last Week:

Quote:
This Week:

1) Send query to magazine. Completed!
2) Read second half of assignment instructions. Completed!
3) Rough draft of second part of assignment. Completed!
4) Work out 2 times, 1 long walk. Completed!
5) Answer a long overdue letter. Completed!
6) Write a short story. 1/2 completed. Moved to next week.
7) Find 3 teen markets for article. Completed!

I've just been editing my original posts, so if you want to see my progress look back, don't expect a bump. I've chosen Sundays for new goal lists.

This Week:

1) Mail request letter, other mail. Completed!
2) Enter 1 contest.
3) Give to charity.
4) Answer a letter.
5) Finish short story from last week.
6) Re-submit returned short story. 1/2 completed.
7) Call relative with requested information. Completed!
8) Contact Brain Research Centre.
9) Work out 3 times. Twice!

Okay, that's it for now. I can't believe I'm just going to bed. Working out at 2:00am (it's now 4:28am) sure feels odd...kinda like being 20 again and in some bar, still full of juice! I think I'll go see Sex and the City if I finish this week's list. I was still working on last week's late Sunday night and was too tired to post.

I took a tele-class with Sandra Felton, The Organizer Lady yesterday so my top goal is:

1. Handle two inches of "Paper Pile" daily
2. Finish new Squidoo lens
3. Post new Blog Book Tour stop for a just-out eBook
4. Plow through Windows Vista for Dummies - learn it!
5. Woodchip large areas of the gardens
6. Walk twice a day this week, instead of just once

Not sure the woodchipping part really applies to writing, but it's very strenuous and it seems to get my imagination in gear. I think any exercise does that for me, so I always add exercise goals to my writing lists.

I'm truly excited about the new filing system I learned, because it's become a serious mental bottleneck for me. More info at http://www.messies.com and there's a book coming out next Spring.

I am amazed at the length of your lists! So many things you hope to achieve in one week.
Wow.
I aim low. This week I wanted to finish a particularly difficult chapter in my book and I did that last night. woo hoo.

Well, Wendy, MY list is short.

By next Friday:

1. Finish writing about the Trek Across Maine for my blog. My readership stats are suddenly exploding. I'm not sure why or what's changed, but I'm not going to drive them away by ignoring them!

2. Write 2 chapters in my YA novel (now that I've found it...)

3. Read those job postings and find one paying writing assignment that will challenge me and go for it.

4. Farm sit for dairy goats. :-D (and, of course, write about the experience!)

5. Get a stylish haircut before I lose it and start smashing all the mirrors in the house.

I thought everyone was out having fun but I'd been excommunicated from the forum. Now it's Thursday and I've not posted any goals. I had a productive week anyway, though today I've idled a bit. Yesteday I did 5 episode synopses for the TV series and wrote an article for the national newspaper on our nurses' strike so I thought today I could be a bit of a bum.

Next week:
1. Finish chapter for English textbook
2. Begin edits on science book

I'm only writing two because the first one is a big one, and the second one is a 1-2 month long job. After this I'll break it into chapters.
