It's only a MONTH since you posted that, Daoine, but...GOOD LUCK!

Kudos to you for entering a contest. Once NaNoWriMo is over I'll be scouting around for contests too.

Hello out there!! Eish I haven't been in this bar for ages. What's up??
Actually I wandered over here to see if anyone has heard from our dear Selma? Is she okay?

Otherwise what's up with folks?

Selma is writing her NaNoWriMo AND going through some deep waters. You can check on her at her blog: http://selmainthecity.wordpress.com/

This is going to be fun!

Hi all. Nice to meet and greet you.

I have been receiving Angela's newsletter at my inbox for many months now, but only very recently come upon the forum.

Very happy to be here. Groovy Old lady has already made me smile. Professional voices can be read all over the place. I think I am going to like it here.

Please welcome me to your circle (and show me where the iced Duvel may be found).

Cheers,

Dev

Hmmm, I seem to have fallen off the notification list for the Bar. Again. *sigh*

The place sure looks different (I also seem to have fallen off the WW planet as well... *another sigh*). Looks nice, though.

So... I think it's time for a nice G&T and a perusal of the posts. I'm so glad virtual booze doesn't upset my stomach. Darn stomach bug.

Hi, everyone. It's Dec 28 here in the Land of Oz, and a public holiday. For me it's the lull before the storm. I've got three editing jobs waiting for me, starting next week, as well as 5 books to review by the end of that week. But today I'm just catching up with everyone. I haven't been here in W/W land for ages. Sorry about that. I hope you are all well and writing, writing, writing...

My novel is still out there trying to find a home. I'm becoming slightly despondent about it. But, for now, I'm not giving up. I'm about 3/4s of the way through my YA novel. It keeps getting interrupted by editing work, and LIFE. It's very frustrating.

My health has been below par again and that slows things down as well. Finding the balance between life, work and creativity is a big juggling act, and keeping all those balls up in the air at the same time is an interesting challenge.

On the good news front, my blog is slowly picking up momentum, and I've had a short story accepted in a literary journal: Wet Ink. Hooray!

I hope 2011 is a wonderful year for you all. Cheers!

**DOOR SLAMS OPEN** One sneaky eyeball peeks around the corner...."Anybody in there??" yells Willow.

I was in here, Willow, but that was days ago. I posted on the 27th and it was approved on New Year's Day. I understand the need for vetting posts, but it makes it hard to keep a conversation going. I hope you're well and happy.

*jumps off bar stool, trips over own feet, spins, doesn't spill a drop of gin OR tonic, rushes Willow for a hug*

Willow!!! Yay!

Someone dust off that old disco ball and sober up the penguin. I'll get the goat out of the kitchen and fire up the grill. Anybody wanna tend bar? Wendy, could you give the old juke box a kick, we need some tunes!

Willow is in the Bar!!!!
Hello Madam! Everyone seems to have been deleted from updates Karen so don't feel special.
Wendy, sorry you've been feeling poorly. On the news I saw Australia has been having horrid weather is that any part of the problem.

And me... had a quiet holiday, looking forward to getting back to work. Did meet my new Guru- he's a leopard tortoise who was dining next to my tent. We made a connection.

Kicked the juke box...ow...ow...ow...
Slaps a virtual tenner on the bar...keep the tonic water flowing!

Yeah, Lolok, the bizzarro weather has been torture for all of us with slipped or collapsed discs, arthritis and rheumatism. But it's settling down now (at least in my state it is). The poor folk in Queensland are in a terrible fix. Over 40 towns are under water; at least 1/3 of the state has been flooded. I'm trying to think of the equivalent land mass in the USA and I think it'd cover Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana...maybe more. Entire townships made homeless. So far, as usual, here in South Oz we haven't had enough rain to cause damage, we've just had wild winds, hail, thunder and lightening, and locusts. Haven't had a decent locust plague in decades so I got a little nostalgic when they first turned up. But that soon wore off.

A leopard tortoise sounds wonderful. sigh
So, how's everyone?
(Feeling just a bit miffed that Ms Karen didn't want to leap up and hug me, too.)

Aw, Master Wendy, I'm sorry! For some reason, I didn't get notice of your arrival. How's about I just throw myself at your feet and grovel for a few in apology? *evil grin* Here's a hug, darlin'. Nostalgic for locusts, eh?

We've had some unusually cold weather here. The snow we got a week ago is still here because the temperature hasn't gone above 29 degrees (F). My bones are aching.

I'd love to say I've finished my manuscript, but I'm not quite half way through what I hope will be the final edit. It's a slow slog, mainly because work is killing me (and today, that was almost literal). I'm seriously considering buying a mega-millions lottery ticket today, because, well, too many more poundings like the one I got today, and I'll be reduced to barely being able to write my name.
