Angela,
I am yet another freelancer owed money by Shakespeare Squared.
I worked for Shakespeare Squared from May-September 2010. I was paid for
my work in May and June, but I am still owed for three invoices
submitted at the end of July ($1,570), August ($350) and September
($472). The total is $2,392.
I e-mailed someone in the accounting department named Lee and was told
that payment was being held up because Shakespeare Squared's client had
not paid. I was told that more information would be forthcoming but
never heard from Lee until my next e-mail. Each time the reply was the same.
The last time I e-mailed, on Dec. 11 of last year, I asked Lee to
provide the name and e-mail of a supervisor so that I could find out
more information. That e-mail was never answered. When I did a search on
Shakespeare Squared to try to find out someone else to contact, I saw
the WritersWeekly forum posts and that this was far from an isolated
incident.
I have e-mailed Det. Petersen, but please feel free to forward this
complaint to the Illinois Attorney General and Shakespeare Squared's
lawyer as you have with the other complaints. And let me know if there
is anything else I can do to help stop these unfair practices.
