Re: Filing of the petition.
I found out AFTER I filed that corruption exists on inside the county clerk's office. Attorneys may "pay off" workers inside clerks' offices to divulge to them who has recently filed a petition, even when there are confidentiality clauses with 30 day mandatory waiting periods in place. My husband was mailed a letter to his office and our house from a lawyer informing him that his wife (me) filed for divorce. HE HAD NOT BEEN SERVED YET and the ink wasn't even dry yet on the petition...nor in the hands of a process server. SO, please WARN women, especially those in abusive relationships that they are at high risk of their spouse finding out before they are able to have their spouse served and make an escape. I had a protection order and temporary orders to protect money and assets. But it didn't make a hill of beans difference!
